Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a strong desire to be recognized. I was the typical model student who listened to parents and teachers. I was also very competitive, especially in areas where I excelled.
Looking back, I pushed myself to the limit—physically and mentally—without noticing it at the time, all in pursuit of the best possible results. Because of that, I was always recognized for my work and given many opportunities to grow.
However, at some point, I began to question whether all my hard work was truly for myself or simply to gain others’ approval.
There were many reasons why I considered leaving my teaching career, but deep down, I think I wanted to pursue growth that was genuinely for me, not just the kind that others would acknowledge.
It’s been a year since I left my teaching job. I can’t say I’ve been giving it my all during this time, but I have been giving myself a break and trying new things.
I’d describe this phase as a second period of adulthood, slowly discovering a new world while stuck in my narrow comfort zone.
If the last year was about exploring and experimenting, now I’m ready to narrow my focus and move forward step by step.
My goal for the next 4 months is to reach out to more schools and educational institutions to spread the benefits of positive psychology to a wider audience.
Even if the results aren’t immediate, I’ll trust myself, engage with others more, and start to draw the bigger picture.
