Recently, Deva and I delivered the last Module, , as part of an ICF coaching education programme.
Deva introduced a range of coaching models and explored how coaches can support clients as they navigate challenges in their lives and leadership roles.
I facilitated the sessions on ICF Coaching Ethics and the ACC Credentialing Roadmap.
As coaches, it is important to understand and apply the professional standards set out in the ICF Code of Ethics.
At the same time, ethical practice also requires us to reflect on our own values and personal boundaries, what we are willing to accept and where our limits lie.
Yet, for me, in real situations, staying within the boundaries I have set for myself is not always as straightforward as it sounds.
With this in mind, we explored a range of scenarios that coaches may encounter in practice.
These conversations gave us an opportunity to consider how the same situation can be understood differently depending on our perspective, and how our judgment and decisions may change.
One of the most meaningful parts of the programme was observing the participants’ coaching practice and offering feedback.
Seeing how much they had grown as coaches was really rewarding. At the same time, I feel like I’ve learned just as much from them.
⁉️ In your own profession, how much are you aware of your own values and ethical boundaries, and how do you put them into practice?
