"I was very impressed by Yuri when I first met her and her husband to interview for positions at Suzhou Singapore International School (Suzhou, China) in January, 2011. So much so, that when we were looking for teachers to join IGB International School, (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Yuri was hired again in our first round of recruitment and she was there to support the school opening in 2014.

Yuri is an excellent teacher of Korean A and Chinese B and was appointed as the whole school Languages Coordinator and the Grade 11/12 Coordinator. This involved her leading a team of teachers, assisting with timetable development, and overseeing the language choices of students across the school. As the Grade 11/12 Coordinator, Yuri not only led the pastoral care and support for Grade 11 and 12 students but also organised and supported many events for these students such as the Grade 12 Final Assembly and with the Languages team, the Lunar New Year assembly.

Yuri sets high standards for herself, her students and colleagues but is very supportive of them and always goes ‘the extra mile’ to ensure that they are appropriately mentored and enjoy successful outcomes. Yuri builds very good relationships with colleague, students and parents and is highly respected by all. She is highly professional, incredibly well organised and is always up to date professionally with the latest information to ensure that she continues to be knowledgeable of IB programmes as a trained IB examiner.

As a linguist and member of a multi-cultural household, Yuri can relate to people all over the world regardless of their nationality or background. She has high EQ and is empathetic to others and their needs. An example of this is that she maintains an interest in, communicates with and continues to be supportive of ex-students and colleagues that she has not worked with for many years
